Brief 2 – Found Objects (Submission)

for this brief I wanted to get across a heavy feeling of binary opposites and did this by combining two found objects that somewhat contradict each other. this can be shown by the cigarette packet, which is representative of illness, against the cotton buds which represent cleanliness. the main inspiration for this brief was photographer by the name of Richard Wentworth as I found his work very interesting due to there simple but thought provoking nature. however for my photos I wanted to replicate the feeling, not style, of Wentworth’s photos. this can shown by the way =I staged my photos and becasue I feel the carry a heavier theme of cynicism, therefore more negative than wentworth’s work. so Wentworth was not a direct influence for me in this brief.

I was quite happy with my photos. however, one major problem for them would have to be the lighting as the photos are to dark and therefore they don’t stand out against my background as well as I wanted. this leads to a another point in where I thought my project succeeded in the form of the backdrop. this was because it was simple, but added more texture to my photos. I was fairly pleased with how my triptych was laid out but as there is progression of size from left to right but, given the opportunity in the future, i would like to spend more time on improving the horizon line of the triptych. this is because horizon lines really have the ability to draw audiences in.
